Rate Sheet
Note on rates: for now we're keeping it pretty simple. You can buy shared placement, or if no one has secured the spot for the month you want, exclusive placement. We will not share a spot with more than three ads per month.
With over 5,000 active subscribers--all very interested in the science fiction and fantasy genres--and about 20,000 pages views (and growing), we hope the following rates will be fair.
If the following size formats do not suit your needs, feel free to negotiate some alternate; but aside from the occasional right side "skyscraper" ad, we are unlikely to go larger, and no we won't do any popups or "float overs."

Why did you add advertising?
We've been trying to avoid requiring paid subscriptions for some years now, but cash flow being what it is, we need an income stream if we want to be able to pay our authors, keep our servers running, etc.
I don't like advertising!
Our ads are hand-vetted, so we hope there won't be anything too offensive on our pages. However, we fully understand, and are still considering a paid-subscription option that would at the very least turn off the side advertisements.

How do I purchase ad space?
We're working on a better system, but for now, just contact us.
How much does advertising cost?

How long does an ad run?
Our ads run by Calendar Month. Since we publish on the first Tuesday, this means your ad will run for the effective length of one issue.
How may I pay?
We take paypal, or check. If you pay by check, note that the placement is only secured when the check is received.
What are the dimensions of the graphics?

What kind of graphics do you need?
When you contact us to secure placement, we'll request a digital version, jpg, png, or gif.
How do I know how many people saw my ad?
We will provide a report at the end of the advertisement's run.
How do you count page views?
Our basic page view metric filters out known robots and simply measures total page views and unique IP addresses after that. If there's enough demand, we may make use of more sophisticated techniques to refine the accuracy of this number.
How do I know how many people clicked on my ad?
We will provide that in the report as well, although you are welcome to ensure the URL you provide is unique such that you can also count the page loads from your end, if you have access to your webserver logs.
